This episode shows how social ranking could manipulate and corrupt societies’ point of view of themselves and the people around them. People will act totally different just to please the environment around them even if it goes against their moral values. The society they live in is just a big ranking system and if no one likes you, then you will be considered a low ranking citizen. So in this world the wealthy are the most like-able and the poor are the people that aren’t. Society is just a giant ranking system and it revolves around if people like you or not and it is really messed up because if you had a bad day and you give a-lot of negative energy to people, then your ranking system will go down. So as a result people have to put on a fake smile and try to enjoy their day.

In todays society people are just like this, they tend to be fake around the people that they want to impress. They create a fake identity for themselves so that they can be liked everywhere they go even-though it can ultimately be their down fall. When people do this they tend to go against their morals and do things that they don’t want to do. Since they want to fit in with the group, they will eventually turn away from themselves and go on a path that they will regret. In Culture and Hegemony by Dick Hebdige states, “We must first consider how power is distributed in our society, we must ask which groups and classes have how much say in defining, ordering and classifying out the social world.”(Hebdige) In society there are multiple groups of people that coexist with one another even if they are different race, political stance and gender. You have to pick out the group of people that really stands out to you and the group of people you have to avoid. The group that makes you go against your inner self is most likely the group that will lead you into the wrong path in life that you do not want to go towards. Sometimes people like this are referred to as fakes which means they are only using you to boost themselves up. They don’t care about your feelings or thoughts and just care about what you have to bring to the table for them. You have to watch out for these people so you can focus on the people that actually care about you.
